reality woes

Indian Television is making way for Reality Shows like never before. These shows give the Indian viewers their dose of glamour, gossip and of course loads of entertainment. All of us have in us, a slight desire to peep in and know about the private lives of people and we still cry and fight for our own privacy. Today every entertainment channel votes for Reality Shows as these are a convenient way of garnering maximum TRPs. There was a time when these shows showed the grit and determination of the participants to cross all hurdles. But today these have become a publicity gimmick, a means of public scrutiny and unwanted comments. Privacy is for sales.

The trend of Reality shows is here to stay, as long as we like to intrude into others lives. But there are good examples also. I find  Khatron ke Khiladi to be a fine example. The show encourages us to face fear and fight it out. There is nothing filthy. The agenda is simple one who dares wins.

Thus Reality shows might give instant fame to the people in it and for the viewers also it is equally involving and entertaining. These shows give the contestants a platform to perform but also burden them with the realms of constant public scrutiny. Some take it the easy way but unfortunately many take it the hard way. They get carried away with the fame and fortune. Success goes to the head and failure to the heart. People fail to understand that fame is inflammable.
